This role will act as a right hand person to senior Program Managers
This role will support 2 major projects within the business (amongst others), CTAL and COMAC and will be responsible for driving and boosting the focus and progress of the key IT deliverables of both projects.
Candidates from an engineering environment or those that have supported engineering projects are likely to be stronger candidates, and a familiarity of engineering packages such as PTC Windchill, Dassault Catia, MSC Nastran and Patran would be an advantage. Whilst they do not need to be hands on users of these packages, a good working knowledge of them is essential as data is shared/generated from these packages for use in the CTAL/COMAC project work.
In addition to understanding the design aspects, candidates will need to understand the requirements of bringing out software tooling design to the manufacturing side of the business and have experience of monitoring processes and adaptive control.
The role will be responsible for setting up the environment, not just the infrastructure, therefore for example, candidates will need to have experience of IP requirements as they ship packages from China to the UK. They may be familiar with or have experience of working in the defence industry, dealing with highly classified data.
Candidates will need to demonstrate a structured approach to project management and be prepared to work on both the planning and co-ordination of the key deliverables of the project, but also take responsibility for the implementation as well.
Location.
Approximately 80% of time in Cowes (IOW) and Bristol 20%. Therefore candidate in close proximity to Cowes preferred. There is a possibility of travel to China (although not probable). Whilst travel to an agreed base for the place of work, this will not be funded on expenses. Travel to other UK and overseas sites will be covered.
We need a boost of focus on some Engineering IT projects around COMAC, CTAL etc. This would be for 6 months initially and then review thereafter. Regardless of whether our new Eng IT person is on board or not, he'll be busy on many things and these are two major projects which need some dedication.
We're after an IT contractor, probably based at Cowes (which is where the COMAC and CTAL projects are being run from). Some top level details of the type of person are listed below.
Essential:-
1) High level of experience and knowledge of global/international data communications networking, especially with stringent security requirements.
2) Specific experience of remote worker, secure data access.
3) A good understanding of synchronised 'data vaulting' and large volume file data delivery systems.
4) Ability to travel to Isle of Wight and Bristol as required by the project.
Desirable (not essential):-
1) A good understanding of Engineering Design applications and the associated configuration/data management, control processes.
2) Project management skills.
3) Awareness of Export Control licence regulations/requirements.
